JASSBERLIN - du 31/07 au 20/08

August 20, 2017 2

The 3-week JASS program immerses participants in the world of activism through a diverse sequence of mini-courses and seminars, visits to local community and social action organizations, and unique volunteer opportunities.
Participants will study traditional Jewish textual sources, philosophies and the history of Jewish and general activism; learn effective skills and strategies for social activism; share personal motivations for and experience in social activism; develop self-knowledge, strengthen their identity and join a growing network of like-minded peers.
We are a program of the Universität Potsdam.  We are a non-partisan project, unaffiliated with any political party.
We accept young adults, aged 18-35.
For the first summer (2017), we expect about 20-25 participants from across the world.
JASS was founded and is directed by Professor Jonathan Schorsch, Chair for Jewish Religious and Intellectual History at the University of Potsdam, Germany.  An international cadre of renowned instructors and practitioners will teach and guide participants.

  • To strengthen young adults’ intuitive urge to work toward social change and their personal desire to become engaged members of their communities
  • To help young adults identify collective challenges on local, national and global levels and to encourage participants to identify and implement effective solutions
  • To bring into dialogue ancient, traditional wisdom and cutting-edge interdisciplinary knowledge; spiritual and political activism; study and action; Jewish and non-Jewish identities.
